ANSI is an acronym for the American National Standards Institute a private,
nonprofit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus
standards in the United States. ANSI establishes
consensus procedures that are the basis for the development of these American National Standards. They provide
accreditation to organizations
that operate in accordance with ANSI procedures
and approve standards that are developed
using this process.
